Born in Gloucestershire to a large, vibrant family of artists and artisans all involved in interiors, heritage and property, it was inevitable that Amy would find her own creative path. She studied History of Art at University, loved to travel and cook, and dreamt of having her own business one day in something design and home-led.
In 2005, while travelling in India, she met a husband and wife team who ran a rug-making cottage industry. Amy was enraptured by this indigenous skill and soon set to work developing her own company alongside them. After 15 years, Amy has become part of the extended family who bring her rugs to life with a technique and craftsmanship that continues to amaze. She also works with rug makers in Kathmandu, Nepal, another family run business.
Amy draws her design inspiration from the everyday: nature, travel, architecture, friends, her children, in short ‘life’! She adds depth to her collection by collaborating with other creatives, from artists and designers to photographers and florists. Her strong work ethic and mindfulness form the foundations of the company’s philosophy. A very personal approach runs throughout the creative process, from Amy’s initial client site visit to the making of the rug - steeped in traditional each step is done by hand - to the final installation by her rug specialists in the UK, also a husband and wife team who’ve been with her since the beginning.
As a creator of new products, Amy is acutely aware of her responsibility to the environment, endeavouring to make her rugs in an ethical, sustainable and eco-friendly way as possible. She works with Care & Fair, a charity that ensures no child labour or unethical practices are employed during the making of the rugs, as well as supporting schools and local communities through her own fund-raising projects in the UK.
Nothing, other than another order via a delighted customer, makes Amy happier than family, living for the moment and fusing sustainability and thoughtfulness into her work.
